Transportation Plan
Council adopted the Transportation Plan on November 24, 2025, setting the foundation for a transportation system that is safe, easy to use, and ready for the future of Vernon.
Looking ahead, the Plan sets priorities for improving Vernon's transportation network. These include building safer connections, filling gaps in the walking and biking networks, enhancing Transit Corridors, and providing infrastructure that supports sustainable and efficient travel as Vernon continues to grow.
With a clear vision and goals, defined strategies, and a practical framework for action, this Plan provides the path for creating a transportation system that works for everyone - today and into the future.

This is How We Roll
At the September 24, 2018 Council Meeting, Council adopted Traffic Bylaw #5600. The Traffic Bylaw updates regulations about how we get around our city by car, by foot, by bike, and using 'small-wheeled transportation,' a term that covers skateboards, longboards, foot-operated scooters and children 12 and under riding bicycles.
The City has developed an educational guide called This is How We Roll to introduce residents to the rules about small-wheeled transportation and to help residents navigate Vernon's transportation network.

This map is managed by Tourism Vernon and includes trails in the jurisdiction of Greater Vernon (City of Vernon, District of Coldstream, Regional District Areas B&C).
The existence and maintenance of Vernon’s impressive trail system is thanks to our incredible non-profit trail organizations: Ribbons of Green Trail Society, the North Okanagan Cycling Society, Sovereign Lake Nordic Club, the Vernon Outdoors Club, and the Friends of the Okanagan Rail Trail. Thank you to these trail groups, as well as Predator Ridge Resort, SilverStar Mountain Resort, Destination Silver Star, BC Parks, the Regional District of North Okanagan, and the City of Vernon for their assistance in creating this map.
There are numerous parking choices for spending time downtown Vernon. A parking map provided by Downtown Vernon shows parking options. Recent improvements include access to pay by phone options allowing additional payment and customer service opportunities.
