The Greater Vernon Athletics Park offers track and field facilities, throw and jump areas, and houses both a synthetic and a natural turf field.
The Athletics Park is FREE for general public use. Fees only apply to groups or individuals interested in booking one or more of the amenities for exclusive use. The track is open from dawn to dusk.
Access to the facility is through the entrance to the Okanagan College campus, off of College Way, Please use the upper parking lot.

ATHLeTiCs PARK - FIELD SCHEDULE
GVAP - Natural Turf
- Formal practice or games requires a field/track/ throws booking through Recreation Services
- Park may be closed for public use during scheduled events, tournaments and maintenance
- Food, beverages (other than water), sports drinks, gum, seeds or nuts are to be kept off of the field and track
- No glass bottles or containers
- Only rubber cleats are allowed
- No chalk or field paint
- Dogs or pets are only permitted on the multi-use path
- Smoking is not permitted
- No carts, weight sleighs, canopies, umbrellas or spiked objects
- Portable chairs are not permitted on the track or field surfacing
- Playing golf is not permitted
- No motorized vehicles, rollerblades/skates, bicycles or skateboards
- Please do not pick or pull grass fibres or infill materials on the synthetic turf field

When the Athletics Park is not booked, track lanes are available for walkers and/or runners and operates counter-clockwise. Please stretch outside of the track lanes.
Lane use
- Fast Runners: two inside lanes (Lanes 1 & 2)
- Moderate Runners/Joggers: three inner lanes (Lanes 3, 4, 5)
- Walkers: three outer most lanes (Lanes 6, 7, 8)
Lap distance
- Innermost lane (Lane 1) – 400 metres
- 4 laps ~ one mile
- 2.5 laps ~ one kilometre
- Outermost lane (Lane 8) – 450 metres
Passing other runners
Pass on the left, calling out “TRACK” before you pass to allow slower runner the chance to move to the right.
Reminders
- If you choose to run/walk with music, you should keep one ear free, or volume low enough, so you are aware of your surroundings.
- Special track shoes are not required. Please wear clean running shoes.
